About Splitsville FC
Stooped in tradition, this proud club hails from modest beginnings with training sessions being held at the Durbanville Hockey Club. It was during these early days where the catch phrase, “Deft” came about. The club is currently entangled in a legal battle over patent and copyrights of the word. The undeniable talent on show was soon recognised and training facilities upgraded to the nearby Durbanville Football Club. Sadly the unsanctioned team from Splitsville were not always welcomed at their new home and were often placed in a situation of “quarantine”. This however only served as further fuel to the Splitsville fire!
The first VII of this proud club is made up of arguably the most talented footballers ever to grace the fields of the Hellenic Greek Sporting Club. Their skill a.k.a. “deftness” soon attracted major crowds to the ground and it was controversially decided to build a much-debated 68,000 seater stadium in the area to accommodate the ever increasing fan-base of the club.
